Of Course Former Contestants Will Like George

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

Well of course there are a few guys and girls here that like George the new host. They've been contestants on the show. They have to like him. They can't be trusted to be unbiased and should therefore identify themselves as former contestants. And should stop pushing pro-George responses on us. If we don't like him, we don't have to like him because you bunch say so!

Why do they "have" to like him? By now the entire series is in the can and the cup has been awarded. What's going to happen if any former contestant slags him off, George will come to their house and beat them up? Cathy will put sugar in their gas tank?

It seems that the people who got to work with him, like him. And I think that's a much more valid judgement than some people who have only seen two hours of the guy and are condemning him for the unpardonable, mortal sin of not being Kryten.

It has nothing to do with "Robert = Kryten" and "George != Kryten".

Robert is just far more witty than George.

But then most english I have met tend to be more witty than americans.

I think it has to do with being raised on a daily diet of monty python...

And yet it's the Americans who gave us "WKRP In Cincinnati" and the British who gave us "Are You Being Served"... :-)

I found George to be too 'game showy'. I kept waiting for him to ask the participants if they would like to trade in their parts for what's behind door number two. When he was talking to the teams, judge, and Cathy, he was fine, but when he was 'on camera' he had that stupid ass gameshow voice. Maybe he'll tone it down for the new series.

George just sucks. I far prefer Robert, and I happen to be a witless American too. It's not just the brits that don't like him. I would dare say most don't like him, even considering the fact that the internet forum isn't an entirely representative sample.

Do the former consestants here think that by sucking-up and defending George's hosting ability, that they'll be called back to do another show ? (like the "Bros. in Arms") Is that it?

What other reason could I possibly have for saying anything nice about George.
