scrapbuilt theatre projector-new episode ideagreenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread |
Here's a new idea:building a scrap built 35 millimeter theatre projector. A small single cylinder aircooled engine or an electric motor woud power it. 35 millimeter projectors mostly use a rotating intermittent sprocket to advance the film in proper frame. Maybe one with a pulldown claw would do. The intermittent sprocket is mostly operated by a mechanical Geneva Maltese cross movement-a four slotted starwheel- but newer projectors such as those made by Kinoton use a four position DC stepper motor to drive only that sprocket. All theatrical film projectors use a rotating shutter besides upper & lower feed sprockets plus a film gate assembly. For help and advice, visit http://www.strong-cinema.com or http://www.film-tech.com Strong mostly makes Simplex&Century projectors while Film-Tech has a forum for discussion.

A helicopter would be a sure way to kill someone.Don't plan on ever seeing such a challenge.
The point of the show is to build machines, not terminate the contestants.

I'd like it, and if it would surley kill someone might as well be George. I think a good project would be to make a crusher machine to crush George (just kidding)
