Financials - share price and market valuation

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just checking out a new business resource and used NUFC PLC as my test info term (I'll get round to some real work soon...) and find that our share price is 45p! Our market valuation is about 68,000,00. Prime for a takeover bid?

Highly unlikely Dougal.

It would cost a mimimum of £35-40 million to buy out Shepherd & Hall, probably £50 million. They would then acquire a business with debt of some £70 million, a playing squad in need of at least £20 million in new investment, a Youth Academy on the drawing board and urgently requiring say another £5 million, and then a football club with no adequate training/medical facilities of its own. Oh yes, and a business that lost £19 million in its last financial period. Hardly an appetising investment opportunity!

I actually believe it's more likely that there could be a move to take the Club private again.

Clarky - so we'll be expecting a bid from a "mysterious benefactor" from North Shields then? Where's Rik when you need him to dip into his pocket?
