His Holiness, Sonny Sharrock

Listen, I love what you do. Axiom rules. Sharrock is a Supreme Being. Ask the Ages is an untouchable album. Ship wreck, desert island, I can only have one album? That's easy. First, I want to thank you for releasing that album. Second, I want to know if there are any other recordings, anything at all featuring Sharrock, Sanders, Moffett and Jones. Anything at all. Basement recordings, filled with scratch, hiss and buzz. I bought the posthumous black album, only to find that there was no new material. I'm willing to pay, willing to travel across seas of pain and fire and abomination...please, give me more Sharrock and the Ages Quartet.

I don't have any material for you, but if you find any, I'd love to have a copy. And also transcriptions.

Interviews with Sharrock from this period indicate that, while Pharoah sat in on a couple of Sharrock Band dates, the Ages quartet never toured, and there probably isn't any more material extant from that group. As for transcriptions, the best I can do is tell you that "Little Rock" is in D minor/F major pentatonic, and starts from a D played at the 10th fret of the high E string...you should be able to figure out the rest from there. =) And if anyone knows of any existing video featuring Sharrock in any musical situation, PLEASE let me know!

I have 30 minutes of video of Sonny filmed at Lucerna hall in Prague by Ceskoslovenska televize on April 10, 1990. I will trade for other SS video or video of Albert Ayler. Allen, Bigalstack@hotmail.com
