Why change such a great thing??? - A now "FORMER" fan

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

Every week a bunch of my friends and I get together and watch the show - it's our weekly getogether and beats the hell out of Alley Mcbeal.. We all just finished wathching the American show. IT WAS AWFUL !!! The new host is pathetic. He has no charisma and is annoying to watch and listen to. If you needed to bring the show to America the least you could have done was brought Robert Llewellyn. His crazy antics and wit carry the show. Cathy is good - - but not good enough to shoulder the whole load. Also, as an American, I find humor and intrigue watching and listening to teams from a foreign country create, inspire, and make fools of themselves - - as I am sure they would in watching us. If you feel the need to produce an American version - - air it in the U.K. and vice-versa. You have lost many dedicated viewers.

Sincerely, A "FORMER" fan

Well, I didn't think that the American version had as much spunk as the British... it lacked something. But don't you go ripping on Cathy! She is my favorite part of the show! I did like Robert, but also I didn't think that the new guy was AS bad as you guys are making him.

Good thing the Internet wasn't mass-market in 1971. Norman Lear would STILL be getting hate mail from people who want to know why the suits couldn't just send Warren Mitchell over to the U.S.

(Obscure? Yep. But nowhere near as obscure as the difference between George Gray and Robert Llewellyn. Go look up the names and you'll see what I mean....)
