He had quite a long time out with a knee injury before Xmas but has featured in the last couple of squads for the first team. With Solano due a suspension now we may see him get a run out. It all depends on who we're playing though, as Bobby will probably play a central midfielder in his place if we need to battle.

I've only seen him once or twice playing for the Reserves, where he didn't stand out, and didn't look to me as though he had progressed at all. He's still very lightweight and easily knocked off the ball. I just couldn't see him playing in the PL.
However, he's still very young and still has time on his side.

Bobby Robson made the point that it can take a year or more for a player to settle in. I've only seen fleeting glimpses of him in action last year but with Dyer and Solano out for the Leeds game this could be his chance to show us how good he is. Even if he dosen't play I wouldn't worry too much, He's only 20.

He's never been the same since he stopped writing his letters. I blame Signor Shearer. He was always taking de pease.

I saw Diego at Croft Park. Incidentally, I was disappointed to hear today that the FA have all but confirmed Cardif as the venue for the FAC Final. I know the officials at Blyth were gutted - but that was probably more down to a case of bad beer (or was it a crate?). I also saw him at St Helens against 'pool Resorves (they didn't seem so bothered aboot the FAC Final). He didn't impress in either game. I'd have put McGuffie and Ameobi (isn't hindsight marvellous) ahead of Diego in the first team stakes. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing him have a chance on the big stage. Shola grasped it with both hands. Perhaps DG could too.
