This opinion is sure to make me very unpopular, but I'm glad Floosie hasn't been around. Obviously, she was a troll character made up by one of the regular posters, but dammit, she was getting on my nerves.

Bubba and Milla, though- yeah, where are you guys?

Why do you say that, lilipili? Just because Floosie is uneducated and has a hard time typing makes her a troll? Maybe she does stretch the truth a bit, but I think it's due to insecurity, low self-esteem, and the need to feel accepted. Every time I see a Springer show, I think that's how her life must be. We aren't all born with a silver spoon in our mouth. I think she's hilarious and it's refreshing to see someone who isn't constantely complaining about something.

And there are plenty of so-called non-troll posters here that get on my nerves too, but I won't name any names.

Oh, just a quick thought. Why don't you email these people to see where they are? Obviously they haven't been to the boards lately and talking about them while they aren't here just seems useless.

I've been a lurker for quite some time, and I always thought James was the troll. Was I wrong?

Response to ?

Actually Pochacco, I thought James was trolling as lilipili.

I don't know who's a troll and who's not, but I do find it curious that whoever opines that floosie is annoying gets griped at pretty harshly. I've seen it happen about 3 or 4 times on these boards. People are mean about Milla and her long posts all the time and nary a word.. I don't care who is "real" or uneducated or if Milla is glued to her keyboard, whatever, I just wish the arbitrary defensiveness would stop. It's clique-y and therefore annoying to me. Now ducking..

I always thought Gwen was Floosie, don't know why. So hi to all the posters & lurkers, happy new year, peace out buddies. Here's to Gwen and her new life's start, here's to the fact that I'm so dense I still don't get the spoiler on Castaway, here's to the holidays being over with (didn't get much of what I wanted and don't feel I did a good job buying for others, but at least my house was pretty and I didn't poison anyone with my cooking). See ya!

Yikes, what a grumpy way to start the new year folks! I enjoy everyone's posts because each of us have unique perspectives and experiences. FYI, I don't know Floosie, but I am close to someone who is highly educated with self-esteem intact who writes like her because of severe learning disabilities. Therefore, I know she is real too. I have great admiration for my friend because of his tenacity. Personally, I love Floosie's posts. It is fun to read phonetically for a change. Milla has had hilarious experiences. James may really be a California troll, after all, I know he hangs out around tide pools :). I'm trying to get together the Southern CA "fans-of-Gwen" so we can actually meet. I'll let ya know!

Vicki, I think you are correct. floosie mentioned on more than one occasion that she is learning disabled. I also think that other people build an affection for someone who seems a bit vulnerable and maybe that's why many jump to her defense. Milla, who does not seem very vulnerable, number one, speaks very well for herself and number two gets plenty of defense/support. Overall, declaring that people who are part of a board are annoying or disliked on that board seems very insensitive, chidish and an intentional effort to hurt.

Learning disabled? Am I the only one who thinks "Floosie" is yanking your chain??

I can't believe you all are talking about these people like they can't read what you are saying. How would you like it if you went to a bulletin board and found a whole thread with people talking about you?

One of the things that makes the HF, Fametracker, and MBTV boards go so smoothly is that they have a rule of No Talking About The Boards On The Boards. I think we should have the same rule here. Since we all have to post our email addresses I think it would be a lot more considerate to actually email people you want to talk to, rather than waste bandwith on the boards wondering where they are and deciding who is worthy of posting and who isn't.

And if you don't like someone's posts, ignore them. Don't tell me you can't do it, because I know of other people besides myself that can and will continue to do it.

Don't fear, I'll be back soon. I'm currently answering a question on another bulletin board. They're asking about my favorite flavor of cheese, and I feel that a question of this magnitude deserves more than my usual twenty page answer, so I'm composing a fifty page one, since the world deserves to know my each and every thought, no matter how trite. Bear with me, I'll be finished with my magnum opus around the middle of next week.

Well...I'm not a troll, as many of you know. I just got busy over the holidays with so many people taking off and then I got the fucking FLU!! I had have BAD head and chest congestion and the Tijuana Two-step and can't eat anything. I coughed so hard last night I did a squirt in my pants. I'm a mean sick person...I HATE BEING SICK!! Physically, that is. I've always rather enjoyed being bent mentally. HI OMA!

I'm Ba-a-a-ack!

HI BUBBA! Glad you're still around. Boy, I thought my 24 hour bug for New Year's was the pits but it beats the roaring flu any day!

-- Anonymous, January 06, 2001

Oh, I forget to say sorry to hear about the Hershey squirts. Hope you weren't wearing the new silk undies I sent for Christmas :). (kidding people!) I spent New Year's day puking along the side of the road outside Small Town Ohio. And some people say what you do on New Year's is what you'll be doing all year. I can't wait.

Hi, James. I was off making merry for three weeks. Spent time doing stuff I like to do instead of stuff my boss likes me to do or my roommate likes me to do, etc. Which meant I did some traveling... Hanging out with friends, ex-BFs, and family members... Dealing with the holidays (bleah)... Sleeping late almost every day... Working on art projects... Writing... Reading a lot (I recommend Genome, Flowers In the Dustbins, Improvised Europeans, Where Wizards Stay Up Late, Andy Warhol's From A To B... and John Updike's Pigeon Feathers were all good, check 'em out if you want)... Going to some concerts and parties... Basically, I did just what I do on most weekends, save the holiday bit, but for a while the frivolity happened during the week as well.

It wasn't all funsies. My grandmother had major surgery so I went home to be with her and my mother for a while. I took carless friends shopping. I got a haircut (which turned out well this time, but which usually makes me cry, so I was dreading it). I was given gift certificates so I actually bought some nice new clothes and CDs, but I also used them to buy my mother and grandmother things they needed and didn't have time to go fetch. My car died, due to battery and wiring issues, and was resurrected twice and while dealign with that nonsense some ass tried to tell me my radiator was shot because I was a girl and he thought I was an idiot. My radiator is just fine, thank you. Oh, I now own an annoying expensive cell phone I didn't want (and I promise not to talk on it while driving). I made most of the gifts I gave this year to save money, as have had financial difficulties. I went out to eat more often than usual anyway. I saw the Beatles on the big screen a couple of times and I cried the first time because it made me sad to see baby John Lennon sing "If I Fell" and then I got embarrassed for being a sap. NYE I saw a great concert by one of the best (and nicest) bands in town and I kissed some boys and got kissed by some boys and then we started off the year right by eating the biggest, yummiest cheeseburgers known to mankind. I met an excellent baby and still don't want one of my own, which, for me, is really good news. I went dancing twice a week and because of that and a better diet, I lost some weight it probably didn't hurt for me to lose. I got a stomach bug and/or food poisoning and spent time yarking my guts out and temporarily wishing I were dead. I sat by our fireplace some. I rented some movies. We got some snow, so that was fun. Eh. A little of this, a little of that. All in all, all that R&R wore me out. I'm tired now.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday season. Oh, I got a cool gift that the more creative among you might want to snitch the idea for: a glass vase with a colourful male Siamese Fighting Fish (a.k.a. Betta) in the bottom, with some glass 'rocks', then a Peace Lily (a.k.a. Resurrection plant...you see them in mall indoor gardens all the time) with the dirt washed off sitting in the neck of the vase. It is in a plastic 'doughnut' or 'cuff' with more of those glass 'rocks' holding the plant upright. The fish nibbles on the roots (and gets fed some stinky little pellets twice a week) and he thrives, and the plant benefits from the waste the fish leaves in the water. The person who put it all together tied a ribbon around the neck of the vase and it looks really cool. My cat was especially thrilled to get his own 'kitty television'. Have fun.

Milla, I took my wife to see "A Hard Day's Night" twice this past week. She had never seen it before, so it was kinda fun to watch her delight. So far as I know, she didn't fall in love with anyone onscreen. :-)

Paul--I love the Beatles, esp. the early era, and thought that seeing them (on the big screen) for the first time was a GREAT treat. My roommate owns the Yellow Submarine DVD, and hearing their actual voices after listening to the close-but-no-cigar imitations they used for the cartoon Beatles...that was really cool. My fave parts include George visiting "The Ministry of Youth Culture" ("Those shirts are dead grotty" and "She's a drag...a well-known drag...the boys and I sit around with the sound off and say rude, nasty things..."), Paul's "grrraundfahthah" causing trouble and popping up in the middle of the 'live broadcast', etc. Simply charming. As my exBF said afterwards--another big Beatle buff, he went w/ me--"What planet was that filmed on?!" Times have indeed changed.

I was really saddened when John died (though George was always my "fave" *grin*). Whether or not you like what Lennon did post-Beatles, the loss really hits home when you see him cutting up, circa 1964, and performing, etc. A friend of mine sent me an article that pretty much said the same thing--the author was devastated when he died but realized that she was crying most of all over the loss of the 1964-era Lennon.
