how to streaming faster

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

hi, we are using windows media player, windows media server and windows media encoder.. actually we are capturing the live stream with capture card ->encoder->media server->windows media player the stream flow like this.. but channel changing and multicast distribution everything is controlled by the windows media server..

but when i change the channels it is taking 8-11 sec ...

the time delay should be reduced to 3 sec is it possible my network set up is good we are using 100mbps hub..

could any one help me to solve this streaming delay problem is there any external hardware or software tools available.. regards viswanathan

Answers

Encoder has a buffer time of 3 seconds while your player has a buffer time of 5 seconds... there is also a network latency of < 1 second ... over all 3 + 5 + <1 = 8+ seconds! got it ???

that is the latency of streaming =)

If you want a real time streaming USE CISCO IPTV or ENVIVIO ENCODER.. WELL THIS IS ACTUALLY BROADCASTING ALIKE ...

TRY TO DO A RESEARCH MAN, I CANT GIVE YOU ALL
