Is there any true source for the original mercury batteries to fit the TC's?

Mercury Battery sources

Yes, there are sources overseas who will ship to you. One I found was http://buttononline.heha.net/index.html

However, technically speaking, I think importing Mercury batteries is illegal. But perhaps more importantly to some of us, it's fairly expensive. This particular company offers 625s for $2.50 per cell or $2 per in larger quantities, plus shipping (from Hong Kong, but it's free shipping if you buy quantities of 12 or more).

Both the TC & T4 use a 625 style battery. As Frank mentions in his post immediately above, these can be made up from the 675 Zinc Airs (hearing aid, 1.4V or 1.35V) and o-rings (as spacers) to make them the right diameter to fit the T4 & TC battery compartment. The 675 Zinc Airs go for about $3.00 for a pack of 4. They seem to work fine without any re-calibrating of the the camera's light meter, just don't expect them to last as long as the old Mercury batteries. My last set went about 6 months with reasonably heavy usage. I used to change my Mercury cells annually.

So, maybe I'm a few dollars ahead using the Zinc Airs, and they are a whole lot more available (and not illegal)!

Cheers!

675 Zinc Air

Hi Alen: I just checked two new 675 Zinc Air,s with a volt meter and thay read 1.35V .I think on the packaging thay just round them up to 1.4V. Another reason to forget the Mercury Batteries
