Glass on the left tonight?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

They got width on the left-hand side through the lad Glass Imperial Lord Ferg after the Manure match.

Does anyone reckon Glass will get a run out tonight? Stephen Carr is not playing so a young lad will be in his place, surely it would be better to fully occupy both full backs. I know Bassedas has played very well recently but he may be in need of a rest following his broken nose and bruised thigh. Speed and Acuna can provide a solid platform in the middle with Nobby winging his way again.

I'd be tempted to play Glass but I think Bobby may pick the same side that started against Manure. Spurs are there for the taking tonight but I think they'll battle out a draw as our London misery continues. Barton has already jinxed us by spouting off about that curse, why don't they just shut up and get on with it?

My thoughts on this are very clear, repeat Glass should make 5 starts, forget 10 mins off the bench and performances at Kingston Park, if YBR does not then rate him, put him up for sale, he will get buyers. One on here reporting Man U game made a comment which sums it all regarding this well versed problem on the left, mentioning Barton he wrote, `tendency to lump it long `, if played short tended to be triangular inside ball`, until last 10, the regular attendees were as one, when Domi (sp) and Glass are together they played well. Players have been consistenley played out of position, not to accommodate Glass, he is no trouble maker, needs to play regulary, will score a few goals , or is the stigma of being a Dagleish buy making him unpickable in front of the South Americans (Solano apart).

I rate Glass very highly- I think YBR has judged him mainly on his reserves performances which from what ive read, havent been great. Playing in the first team is a different matter and he needs a decent run. I think YBR will stick with Bassedas but bring Glass on earlier over the next few games for a 30 minute run out.

I suspect BR does not fancy playing both Solano and Glass as he perceives that to result in a relatively weak midfield. He clearly rates Solano higher than Glass - so, Glass doesn't play.
However, if Bassedas isn't 100% - he started v manure with a broken nose and took a bit of a batttering - he might give Glass a try-out tonight and hold back Bassedas for the FAC game on Sunday.
