Domi for PSG....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I told you the club (PSG) put him up to it, the Bastards reckon they'll get him cheap. Newcastle's AWOL defender Didier Domi looks like he may get his wish to rejoin French side PSG as reports in France suggest that the French side are to try and recruit three French stars from England. Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Fernandez is said to want to sign Domi and fellow French stars Marcel Desailly from Chelsea and Christian Karembeu from Middlesbrough. Fernandez's is said to want to start next season with a three man defence comprising of Desailly, Karembeu and Didier Domi. That Domi wants to return to France, and PSG in particular, is not in doubt but but the two sides are miles apart in terms of a transfer fee. PSG are prepared to offer £2.5 while Newcastle will demand twice that figure. Karembeu has only this season signed for Middlesbrough and has three-and-a-half years on his Middlesbrough contract left. Desailly is under contract through 2004 and is unlikely to return to France in the meantime.

Sell him for £3.25 and not a franc less.

£3.25? That's a bit steep isn't it? I'll give you a Marathon and a copy of the Beano.

£5m + or we hold onto his registration. Put your money where your mouths are. No discussion.

I suspect Bobby may take a stand over this. He's been getting more and more pissed off with agents/players messing him around and he may just take an 'old-fashioned' stance and let the guy rot unless we get the money we think he's worth. I suspect Big Freddie could be similarly minded. At the same time a block on his wages while he refuses to turn up for work would do the cash flow no problem at all.

I'm with Min on that. Wenger got crazy money for Anelka by holding out. No reason we can't do the same. At least hold out for reasonable money. No bargain-basement fire sales here.

Quite agree with keeping his registration. His disruptive influence is better staying in Paris. PSG can afford him so they can pay for him. Domi will sooner or later realise that he just can't do this sort of thing.

How badly will he need the money is the question? When you earn that much you use that much and he will have to start dipping into the offshore bank accounts!

A couple of things we now know for certain: the Anelka brothers have been on the phone direct to Domi. So have PSG.

Therefore, we either invite UEFA/FIFA and the PFA to take a look at the situation or they pay us what we're asking. We've got them on all fronts.

Not even fit for the resorves. Keep naming him as a sub and leave him to freeze his b******s off on the bench at Kingston Park.
