H&W Control Developer

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone out there has heard of the film developer H&W Control. I used this back in the mid 70's with Tech Pan exposed at (then) ASA 100 (pushed 2 stops). Would this be the same as the Technidol? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

H&W is no longer made. Technidol will give an EI of 25. To get 80- 100 EI with tech pan, try Ethol TEC, or one of the Photographer's Formulary developers. See http://www.digitaltruth.com for the massive developer charts for more possibilities. A new revelation to me is how well kodak's 400 chromegenic film compares to t-max 100 and tech pan! Just yesterday, I printed 14x20 prints from the kodak film and there is suprising little grain! FWIW.

H&W is long gone; I get a "real" (.10 DU above fb&f for Zone I) EI 50 out of Tech Pan in Ethol TEC 1:15 with fairly normal contrast. Everything else I've tried, Technidol, C-41 dev, Burton 195, Xtol etc, only give EI 12-20.

Microphen 1:5 has been suggested.
