16-year-old Washington boy arrested after family found dead

ADDY, Washington (AP) -- A 16-year-old boy was arrested after his parents and two siblings were found dead along a rural road near the small mountain community of Addy in northeast Washington.

Investigators said the bodies were covered with snow. All four, including the two siblings, ages 11 and 18, were believed to have been shot at their home on December 23 and then taken to the nearby road in the family pickup, investigators said.

The sheriff's office said friends and family members notified authorities after the family hadn't been seen for five days.

William L. Lembcke, 16, was booked into the Stevens County Jail on Saturday for the investigation of first-degree murder, Sheriff Craig Thayer said. A court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday.

The boy had a juvenile record, and the family had been having problems, Thayer said.

"It does appear there was some anger and some arguments that have occurred, not just recently, but over some period of time," he said.

Neighbor Lyla Richardson, who called the sheriff's office on Friday to ask deputies to check on the family, said she had been trying to call Robert Lembcke, 49, and his wife, Diana, 43, for several days after noticing one of their horses was loose.

"I'd see the lights come on, I'd call, and nobody would answer the phone," she said.

"It's a shock to me," said Earl Humbert, another neighbor. "Everybody kind of keeps to themselves up here, pretty much."
