The station at Hortense, Georgia, was opened about 1901 when the ACL direct line from Jessup to Folkston was put in operation. Passenger trains quit stopping at Hortense about April 1954, though the place was still shown as a freight stop in a SCL 1969 employee timetable. As to pictures, you might want to check with a county historical society through the local chamber of commerce, or the verticle files of a main county library, for starters.
