Want Away Goma?

Can some one please tell why Goma wants to leave and has requested a transfer?

From listening to last nights game, all I heard was Goma dominating the defence and playing a giant of a game. I didn't even know who the other central defender was untill 5 minutes left in the game when Hughes went up for a corner.

I presume he just hasnt settled in Newcastle and aint happy- he handed in his request at the start of the season so maybe now hes playing games itll help him feel at home. Dosent look good though espec since Charvet and Domi are leaving, leaving Bernard the only other frog. I suppose at the end of the day YBR will be happy if he goes as hell get 4 or 5 million for him but obviously the ideal situation wud be to stay.

Goma is going about this the right way, although he hasn't settled in England He's honouring his contract and giving 100% on the pitch. This will not only help the club, but also the player. Instead of being sold off to a struggling French club, he can look forward to playing for one of the biggest clubson the continent.

He is an excellent player. shame he's going.

Both Goma and Aaron Hughes were excellent yesterday. Considering Goma hasn't played at all for 3 weeks or so he was terrific.

The great thing is that Goma & Hughes make a good pairing, complimenting each other very well. Goma has completely won me over, and I really hope BR can persuade him to stay. We've been searching for an effective pairing at the back for ages, in fact since Albert and Peacock, and it would be a real shame if this one was broken up.

Since b4 then, I reckon - Albert was more effective up front than at the back!

Why is it that Goma was not in the squad because of his injury and then comes in when needed and plays a full game? If he wasn't in the squad because he said he wasn't fit then we're better off without him.

A big assumption but it goes to show that the appearances of Shearer are all the more remarkable when you look at how other players view the need to pull on the balck and white shirt for anyone other than themselves.

Bigger club my arse! Swap Goma for Rebrov? Straight swap no cash!

GOMA IN THE WINDOW

Newcastle United's Alain Goma goes into the game at Tottenham on Tuesday night hoping that another good display will tempt George Graham, the Spurs boss, to come in and make a bid to take him to the ' big club' that he craves.

The transfer listed defender is being allowed to leave Newcastle although manager Bobby Robson would dearly like to hold on to him. George Graham tried to land Goma 18 months ago and with the future of Sol Campbell still no nearer being resolved Graham may well make a move for the man that he sees as a replacement for the England man.

Goma had not played for almost a month when he was pitched into battle against Manchester United on Saturday were he acquitted himself well, as Robson admitted: "He hadn't played any football for a month when I threw him in against Manchester United and under the circumstances, he was brilliant.

"I'd love to keep him but I respect his reasons for wanting to leave.

"It's not for me to persuade him to stay. If he says he changes his mind, that's fine but if he wants to remain on the transfer list, that's fine too.

"To be honest, I'm surprised we've had no offers because he's an outstanding defender. When the right offer comes along, I expect him to move on."

I love the bit that says:

"....will tempt George Graham, the Spurs boss, to make...."

They have to remind you who he is and which club he manages. THAT big a club eh? ha ha.

min, I think it actually demonstrates how little substance there is to this story than anything else. Desperate to make it look like a real story they are fleshing it out with anything they can. Usually known as a no-news day.

yep. totally agree.

think hungry, hungover journos huddled over their computers dribbling and banging their heads against the desk:

"Must write a story, must write a story, must invent a story. I'll show them for stuffing us 7-1...."

How's about making up the odd matchday song for Goma then ? You know, let him know how much he's wanted and all that. Best case scenario - he changes his mind and stays. Worst case scenario - it reminds 'newer' Gallowgate attendees that making up and singing player songs is their birthright, not to mention responsibility.
