- December 30, 2000 - 8:36 AM From Press staff reports EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — A Spirit Airlines jet carrying 147 passengers and crew headed to Orlando, Fla., turned back to Atlantic City International Airport after a cockpit warning light indicated a problem with the landing gear. Flight 11 was airborne for about 30 minutes Friday afternoon when a light indicated that the landing gear was not properly locked in the up position. The crew then lowered the gear and returned to Atlantic City International. The plane landed safely and no one was injured. Passengers were switched to another jet and the flight left for Orlando about three hours behind schedule, a Spirit spokesman said. No difficulties were found with the landing gear. Spirit was investigating what may have caused the warning light to indicate a problem, the spokesman said.
