Choppy video after capturing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Whenever I capture my video, it doesn't run smoothly. Instead it is choppy with video as well as the captured audio. The sound sort of stutters along with the video. This is the same after rendering and after burning. There is some frame drop during capturing but it's minimal. I'm using snazzi digital video link for capture and ulead video studio 4.0 SE for rendering the movie. My dv cam is a sony DCR-TRV11E. I use the pal system. I'm sure my pc is capable of movie making as it's a pentium 3 533mhz with 128 mb ram. So, is there anyone out there who can help me out? I'm at wit's end here trying to make a wedding vcd for my sis who is eating my brains out...LOL....

I forgot one more point, my OS is windows ME. I've previously tried it with windows 98, but the result was the same. I thought that ME might be better but no. Don't suggest that I use window ME's movie maker. I seem to have problem capturing with it. OK, thanks for all your replies....

I have a Sony Digital 8 camera (DCR-TRV320)and get great downloads from the camera to my computer, but I haven't created any VCDs yet. I bought ULEAD VIDEO STUDIO 4.0 SE that came with a TI OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller and FireWire cable. At first I had a problem with choppy video and sound, but then I upgraded to a 40GB Western Digital hard drive with Ultra ATA 66. After enabling the DMA Transfers on the hard drive through the control panel, systems setting, I got great downloads (Zero frames dropped). My next purchase will be a CD burner then hopefully I will be able to produce great quality VCDs. I hope this helps.
