Neoprene socks

greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread

Mook and I witnessed a dramatic demonstration of the value of the neoprene sock. Yesterday afternoon, we ran at Rockcrusher. The temeprature was probably about 15. There was a strong wind from the northwest. There were a few inches of snow on the ground. Mook wore regular socks. I wore neoprene socks.

The result -- near the end of the run, Mook got cold feet and went back to the car. My feet were fine.

Dan and I have discussed where to get neoprene socks. I sthought I once saw them at Walmart. Mike, I think you recommended online via Campmor or through Galyons in KC. No problems with fit?

Oh, and while Mook went back to the car, you imply that you stayed out for yet more environmental punishment?

I did a search at the campmor web page and found neoprene socks.

They come in four sizes (S,M,L,XL). I've got L (and wear a size 11 Nike running shoe).

Dan picked up a pair of neoprene socks at a Walmart (sporting goods section) for about $10. They claim "one size fits most."
