Shearer out for season?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

YBR on 5 live 'It will be a bonus if he plays again this season. He's a flogged horse and we need to look after him'

So the penny has dropped (NOT with YBR, his hands are tied) Thank bloody god.

Forced into the transfer market for......?

Or will Freddie make YBR stick with his lot with 30 points already in the bag?

I think everyone on here knew shearer was on borrowed time. After what sounds like a solide performance from our Young' uns today we may be ok, we still need to purchase some quality. Now that it's backs to the wall kinds stuff I hope the players forget about expecting to win and just go out and do it. If we can beat Manure I think this will hold us in good stead for the remaining games. I don't think anyone can argue that over the last couple of months shearer has only been 3/4 fit, and although his presence is a lift to the team we really need eleven and not 10 3/4 players on the field.

Why should we buy another striker - when Cort is fit and Al gets back we'll have 2 1st choice + LKD who can play there + Lua2 who also can play there + Cordone.

Young Shola is coming along nicely - he showed some great touches v Pool reserves last week. He's a big lad but a footballer not a target man.

Put those along with COrdone and we don't need a permanent striker. A loan for 2 months until COrt is back is more sensible. I think thats what YBR is after - Burchill or Jansen would do me.

is it wise to rest on our laurels and say ...ok lads one fine performance, shows we can do it and we won't spend any more as we can live with performances such as these...or do we wake up and admit that Leeds are playing poor form as of late and we rose to the situation here. We have not shown any consistency and one brilliant performance today will amount to squat if we get hammered by Manure on Saturday.

Cant agree sparxx, althoug I know what you mean. However, one brilliant performance today took us on to 30 points - irrespective of what happens on Saturday.
