Well now that you own a new Chia Pet, or is it a new glow in the dark candle from aunt BerthaMay, are you going to make someone mad or hurt their feelings taking it back to the store? Will granny feel slighted when you ask her for the sales receipt for the hideous sweater she got for you that is 3 sizes to small? My buttheads got gifts for each other that they wanted for themselves. Crass! What did you all(sorry this isn't spelled in Texan) get that you wish you could or will take back? James

The most hideous umbrella stand there ever was. Ever. Its painted bright gold with painted flowers over that, it looks like a diaper bin, and we can't return it because the people that gave it to us are in our house almost every day and we'll be very hurt if they don't see it. Arrrgh.

I got the most bizarre blouse from my godmother. It is some sort of silk-like material and in the color of blood red, with sketches of women's faces in black. WTF? She got my husband the butt-ugliest sweater in Christmas colors in a sort-of checker/plaid design. I'm not quite sure what the fuck was going through her head when she saw these items and said to herself "These are perfect for Nicole and her husband!" Since she bought them in Massachusetts and we live in Virginia, I think they will be donated to goodwill.

Nicole- Considering the eighties-esque fabric styles and such, maybe she got them from Good Will in the first place? Let's hope not... As for me, my Christmas haul was super good. But both my brothers got (for God knows what reason) disgusting beef jerky and peppercorn sausages (main ingerdient: dehydrated pig rectum) from my aunt and uncle, who usually send the most awesome presents. What happened there?

I didn't get anything bad this year. But I've never returned or exchanged a Christmas gift and I don't plan on ever starting. If it's ugly clothing, I just won't wear it and if it's something ugly for the house, it's just not ever seen, or perhaps seen if you go looking for it, but never used.

I just got a present in the mail from a sorority sister I haven't talked to since at least June (and have never exchanged presents with before). It's a gold and black zebra print Kate Spade bag. I can't tell if it's real or not, and I can't figure out which would be weirder, her sending me a real Kate Spade bag or a fake one. The whole situation has me quite distressed.

The only gift I returned was the Swatch watch that my boyfriend got for me, and there were no hurt feelings because it was a last minute gift that he couldn't resist because we had just been talking about Swatches a few days before. But I don't wear a watch, haven't since I did wear Swatches back in Jr. High, so we took it back and bought other goodies and had good times.

And even though we have repeatedly stressed to everyone in our families how tiny our house is, and even showed them with pictures and by having them over, we still got sentimental knick-knacks that were lovely gifts from the heart, but unless we string them from the ceiling they will not be able to live in our house.
