It's copied onto quite a few sites. I woundn't mind him , but I reckon he is stalling at Arsenal so they up the offer. Do we really want to pay someone £40k a week who is regulally injured, is 31 and would be no use for us in Europe next season due to his flying phobia?

It's on the back of the NOTW this morning, and on the 'strength' of that I have put it onto the DAILY TOON website.

Howeverm I do also add the rider that I hope it's not true and while we need someone badly, we need someone younger than 32 (well 31 1/2 then)

Has been a wonderful player, but is now in decline. He looked a yard slow against Liverpool yesterday
In our predicament he'd be a great loan signing until the end of the season, but with their continuing CL involvement why would Arsenal release him?

I really don't think that CL issue is a problem Rik. Given the fact that he won't fly he misses half their matches in it anyway.

I just think we SHOULD be able to do better and aim higher than a declining player who is rapidly approaching 32 (in May)

I just find it hard to understand how we can go from trailblazers signing the likes of Ginola, Tino, Ferdinand and breaking the then transfer record for Al to scrapping around the bottom edge of the barrel hanging on the whim of someone who would these days be best described as a journeyman.

BTW Rik, a loan deal is out, the rules bar loans between premiership clubs so we would have to sign him or pass him up.....I would hope the latter.

I'd forgotten about the PL rules on loans. With a loan not being on, just forget it.

Why would we contemplate spending the residual small change on a 32 yr-old 'has-been', and not on a 27 yr-old class player with bit of pace who could make a real contribution - Titi Camara?

I'm at a total loss to explain what the hell is going on SJP these days!

Ken, Your Daily toon site dosn't work on my browser, I keep telling you about it but you still haven't fixed it. I use netscape 4.7 , with a screen set at 800x 600. I get a menu on the left showing Ameobi as the player of the season. and a huge blank space. When I scroll to the right I get a small amont of something, but it's squeezed right up along the edge.

Anyone else have a problem or is it just me?

Andy is working on it at the moment......as far as I can see, anyone using Netscrap has the problem.

Andy had done a lot of work on the problem, redesigning the layout and a couple of new features and then his laptop was nicked so he has had to start again.

Hopefully it will be sorted soon.....

BTW why do you use Netscrap, I thought it was supposed to be rubbish?

Cause it's more user-friendly than Micro$haft. At least that's why I prefer it. Actually Nutscrape 6 is more like IE...complete with similar awkwardness and more bugs. New and improved..ha. But it does allow you to view alot of sites that 4.7 and earlier can't handle.

I am stating to believe that there realy is NO MONEY in the kitty. If there were a million or two, why didn't BR buy Jihai or Paz? He liked them both and they were under £2 million.

Clarky, with all your dosh, why not offer a few bob to your mate at At James'? And I think you might be right about BR retiring at the end odf the season. If I were in his shoes and could see a few million curing the problem and getting us into Europe, only to be told that he will have to make do with loan signings. I would tell them to get stuffed. How ca he do a proper job with broken tools?

I don't think there was any reference to signing Bergkamp on loan for the rest of the season. The drift I got was that his contract was up at the end of the season, as a free agent we could start talking to him in January and mebbe get him on a Bosman at the end of the year. Seems to make reasonable financial sense, a sort of Gallagher type signing, but not promising much for the future. Anyway, it wouldn't get us out of our current scrape.

On that happy note, ITS CHRISTMAS!!!! (best Noddy Holder impression)
