Not as Badashewas

Don't know whether it was mentioned elsewhere after the Bradford game but I thought Bassedas was noticably better than he had been. I'd been giving him the benefit of the doubt as he seemed to be playing himself to fitness. He is technically as sound as Solano is but seemed to be worringly as light in the tackle (so to speak).

On Saturday he showed he could go passed people and that he had a good eye for telling through balls (so to speak). Up til now we've had no benefit from the money spent on him, maybe his form could be key to the second half of the season.

If he became a fixture in midfield, and somehow we ended up with two fit forwards then I'd guess there is only room for one out of Lee, Speed and Acuna, as I'd expect Dyer and Solano to be first choices.

I listened to the Webcast and Bassedas sounded like he was making loads of telling through balls which we have been lacking really. The future is Acuna and Bassedas in the middle and I reckon they will both come good. They have good technique as a base to work from.

We'll see on Saturday how well he performs in the middle because Speed is suspended. We'll not see the best of him until we get Cort and Shearer fit and playing regularly.

We should support him to the hilt though, he's going to light up the Prem IMHO.

His Spanish nickname translates to 'The Steering Wheel'; he has a reputation for directing play and making telling passes. Fingers crossed for Acuna to settle into the Batty role of tackle, chase, harry, play two yard pass to real talent.

Our current injury problems aside, I seem to remember we all agreed last season one of the key players we were missing was someone to play an intelligent pass into space from midfield.

According to Bobby, the last few games were really Bassedas' pre- season so to speak. Remember he as injured during the USA tour and so we do have to give the lad some time to get to grips with the game here.

I give it latest by Feb, then we will really know just how good(or bad) he and Acuna is.

We right players off to quickly. I bet JDT goes on to be a great player.

Talking about 'early write-offs' - I wonder what happened to 'h.
Wonder if fancies coming back?

Maybe we should have kept him. Wonder if he fancies coming back?

The fact YBR+co spent months watching and trying to buy Bassedas, and then spent 4 million on him, speaks volumes. Remember Acuna was cheaper than Des Hamilton- now that cud well turn out to be NUFC 2nd best bargain ever(after Lee of course)!
