Bush aide: Something "big" needed to protect US from energy crisis

Today a Bush aide , who asked not to be identified, told US reporters on a conference call. the following:

Energy crisis could prompt US recession "growing sense that something big" needs to be implemented to protect America against an energy crisis.

Bush aide says US is "overly reliant" on foreign supply of oil . Such a crisis could tip the economy into recession, he added.

"There is a rising concern that America is on the brink of an energy crisis. We do need to have a long-term approach to avert problems and that is what the president-elect is going to do."

The aide noted that the president-elect believed America was "overly reliant" on foreign oil and that it should boost domestic supplies.

During the campaign, the onetime Texas oilman called for expanding energy companies' access to US land and reducing the country's dependence on foreign oil, wrote Bridge News.

Remember when George Bush pandered to the enviromentalist to win the election roped off the east and west coast to drilling. The last time I heard it takes 10 years to bring a field in. 8 years have been wasted with the present administration.
