my MPEG-1 files aren't compressed by MGI VIdeo Wave IIIgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread
Hopefully somebody can help me with this nagging problem:
I'm using MGI Viseo Wave III software for video editing which came with my computer. I'm using MPEG-1/ 352x240/ 29.97 FPs/ 44.1 kHz, 16 bit, Stereo. I've also tried using MPEG-1 PAL format, with similar dissappointing results.
My source is always AVI taken from my Digital 8 camcorder's firewire connection.
The final "produced" (encoded) videos are always gigantic)- a 5 minute video in MPEG-1 won't fit on a single CD.
Is there a better way to do this, or is there a way to check that my files are "legitimately" encoded into MPEG-1? Thank's in advance to anybody who takes the time to answer this!

A good quick-n-dirty rule of thumb for MPG1 file size is 1 meg/minute.
Try right clicking on your finished file and verify your file attributes in Properties against your expectations.
I've never experienced any problems with MGI VW I or II for final Avi- >to-Mpg file size.
