Solano and our foreign legion

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

In this month's Mag, there is a great letter from a Mag who had to go to Peru for his holidays. Anyway, he bumped into the Nobmeister at Lima Airport and Solano was full of how much he loves the Toon, the club, the fans, everything and he even offered the lad a lift to his hotel so he didn't get ripped off by the local cab firms. Now, in these times of the Chronicle talking shite about our foreign players, I thought this was a timely reminder of the welcome that Geordies are supposed to give visitors and to say "Nobbeeeeee is a Geordieeeeee".

Aah wish Nobs'd been in Twickenham on Thursday neet. Cost us a bliddy fortune fer a cab. Mind, not as much as from Bournemouth to Greenwich! ;-))

I am getting a bit sick of all this foreigner bashing. Some are just here for the money , but so are some of the NON foreigners. why are the imports all painted with the same brush? I bet some of these other South Americans are realy pleased to be in Newcastle and Englnad. It might be a bit cold , but it's got to be a better place to live than the places many of them have been brought up in. I'm thinking in particular about Gavilan, Bonvin and the younger lads, I bet they love it here.

Nice to hear the good stories! Thanks Dougal.

It's the usual problem with crude generalisation.
Stan Collymore is English, and Nobby Solano is Peruvian - so, who would you rather have in your squad?

and judge Acuna and Bassedas this time next year and Gavilan likewise.

Tell ya what Pete - Bassedas looks a canny player to me. Time will tell.
