Would anyone like Suker

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I think he'd be great but a pitty we can't have a loan of him.

Suker? On loan for a month or two - yes. Permanent buy - no.

The latest speculation surrounds Chilean Ivan Zamorano of Inter, and none other than our old mate PVH (Pierre Van Hooijdonk), presently with Benfica.
In addition, .com report some speculation that BR's interested in 6'6" former Spurs youngster, Jamie Crouch, of QPR who's been knocking a few in recently.

No - too late for Suker. And too expensive on the wages front. PVH? Only if he's started to behave himself. Doesn't seem the type for a "backs against the wall" fight if things were to go pear-shaped.

...only if Claire Swires is offering.......

Anyone see Crouch's goal for QPR at the weekend?

He didn't hit the ball, it hit him whilst he was falling....he looks exactly the kind of player we'd buy......unable to even get into the spurs reserve team when he was there.....

Pierre is brilliant just a bit of a Collymore upstairs.

Saw him play at Celtic and he was amazing, and suddenly we'd have yet another person to stand ready to take edge of box free kicks. For those of you who haven't seen one, he is better than either Shearer or Solano at them.

Aye, but Robson wasn't kidding with his question mark against PVHs personality. The big Dutchmans petulant behaviour has caused no end of mayhem at various clubs. Ask a Celtic or Forest fan. I have to admit last season at Vitesse he looked pretty awesome but hes just as likely to go on strike or demand more money. If Robson could handle him correctly (like he did Romario at PSV) he could well be just the player we need, but it would be a significant risk. My gut feeling is that PVH really wouldn't fit in at a club that has never had much time for Prima Donnas.

The PVH deal's dead. Benfica owe Vitesse £5mm on the transfer, which would have to be paid off. The Toon wanted him purely on loan, and aren't going to shell out £5mm + for someone with his reputation.
