THE REAL QUESTION IS WILL YOUR SONY PLAY CDR OR CDRW.
GO TO www.vcdhelp.com or www.vcdhelper.com to see if it can
QUALITY DEPENDS ON THE SOURCE AND WHAT KIND OF TIME YOU ARE WILLING TO PUT INTO MAKING A VCD.

Yup, the sony DAV-S300 (just purchased 3.xx.01) will play cd-r's but only a certain type. Go to circuit city (if you are in the states) and get STI branded cd-r's. They are silver/blueish color. You also MUST burn at a 4x rate...the 8x won't work...i haven't tried 6x yet. Good luck.
