Ambition

Sorry, I know there's some folks on here that don't like Barton, but I admire his attitude and commitment. He'll be a great addition to the coaching staff when he does hang up his boots.

From tonight's Ronnie:
Before today's game with Bradford City at St James's Park, the former England international said: "In an ideal world my ambitions would be to sign another contract with Newcastle and maybe one day get on to the coaching staff at the club.

"I have 18 months left to run on my current contract and I would love to sign another one.

And although I have hopefully got a lot of playing years left in me, I have got my FA coaching badges and I would love to stay at St James's Park because I've learned so much from the managers and coaches we've had here."

I'd prefer Barton to be involved in the coaching than what inevitably will happen with Shearer taking charge. Barton looks like he likes jis toatal football without always having the ability to pull it off.

As a former Barton Basher, I would hope that he remains at Newcastle after he hangs up his boots and tries to inspire the youngsters. He's not the most skillfull player in the world but gives 100%, never stops running , never looks to hide on the pitch. If he can inspire better skilled young players to have his attitude then he should be offered a caoaching role.

His attitude alone, is the highest possible commendation. I would back him as a possible future coach/manager. If he can convey a fraction of his own drive to younger (or older!) players he will do a great job.

I have to say he's one of my all time favourite Toon personalities. Anyone who pulls on the B&W with as much pride as he does has a head start over many others.
