How Can I Remove Subtitles from my VCD?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi. I bought an anime VCD with english dub and english subtitles. The subtitles get really annoying after awhile, so I was wondering if i could remove them. I have been searching, and i have found sites with subtitle rippers on them, but is that the way to take it off? I have a CD Burner, so should I rip the VCD, remove the subtitles, and re-burn it? I'm new at VCD's, so....I don't know what to do (obviously). Thanx for helping, Jono

Greetings! English dub _and_ English subtitles... I've never seen one of those. Anyways, most subtitle rippers just cut out the bottom of the movie( in which the subtitles sit ), thereby making the movie size smaller also, but giving up part of the movie in the process. To rip the VCD: 1) Take a CD-recording utility and rip the VCD into a bin/cue format. 2) Take VCDGear( http://www.vcdgear.com/ ) and convert the bin/cue into mpeg file(s). 3) Use a subtitle ripper to rip the subtitles. ( Follow their instructions for processing the mpeg file(s). ) 4) Search around on the internet for a VCD template for your Cd- Burner. 5) Burn away using your ripped mpeg file(s)

Hope this helps, and remember, to rip the subtitles either means you going frame by frame editing out the subtitles, or losing part of the screen/movie using a subtitle ripping app.
