Missing forum people(Misc.)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Have we not heard from Polly lately, or have I not read the right threads? I enjoy her sense of humor. And what about Cheryl from Utah?

I'm here I'm here - sorry, was off the forum for awhile, got hijacked by all the media in Tally for the election crap! But, they're gone YEAH!! - Actually, I use my computer at work (don't have a home one) and recently switched jobs - but I'm back on, just can't check threads daily anymore. I missed all of you too!!! - Julia in Media-free Tally

Haven't read anything from eagle (both Mr and Mrs) for too long. I was wondering about Polly also.

Well, no one mentioned me but I've been really busy baking, sewing, and homeschooling, and as of the last 3 days, we've had no electricity due to an mild ice storm, we fared o.k. except dh really missed the hot water coming out of the bathtub facet, we were warm and had plenty to eat, but you can't find any lamp oil, coleman lanterns, or anything like that anywhere now.

I heard from several/ I haven't seen posted for quite a while by e- mail when I thought this "family forum", was not the place for dirty jokes & some of the titles for posts we had been getting------it was a joy to hear from old friends/ I hadn't seen post for a long time----

I also was not aware there are soooooooooooooooooooo many who lurk & never post----what a large family we have out there!!!! I have had many nice e-mails from people who lurk but don't post---

I'm sure there are others of you who get the same type of e- mails!!!!!! Just got a nice e-mail from an oldier gentleman last night that reads this forum all the time & never posts & is sending me a vita-mix book!!!! Isn't God good!!!

What a joy to have such nice people who never say a word on the board BUT are there to help someone out if they can!!!!

I truelly had no idea in the world there are sooooo many people who read this forum everyday--but choose not to post---but I'm sure they have e-mailed other people from the countryside forum when they can help them!!!!!

This was such a suprise/ when I got e-mails from several I hadn't seen post for a long time ----who said, they totally agreed with me---

And again I was totally naive as to how many read the forum on a regular basis & choose not to post--but will e-mail help or encouragement!!!!! Thank you to those of you who make up our family in this manner-------I truelly didn't know you were out there!!

You are also an important part of our forum!!! Your prayers are also!!! Thanks to all of you/ who read & don't post--for also being there! You have your reasons & you have your purpose, also--yes I agree a lot wouldn't understand!!!! But thank you for your e-mail of support & your prayers!!!! Sonda in Ks.

Thanks Sonda and others for welcoming those of us who read alot and post infrequently. I, for one, feel like I am making new friends by just "listening". You guys are great. Lyn Roach

-- sheepish (rborgo@gte.net), December 16, 2000.

I haven't seen Rachel on here for a long time, and miss her.

-- Rebekah (daniel1@itss.net), December 16, 2000.

And we too will be gone for awhile. Heading south of the border for a personal "vision quest". Want to check out if the Mexicans do any homesteading. See you late January!

-- Rose Marie Wild (wintersongfarm@yahoo.com), December 16, 2000.

I was thinking about Rachel just the other day! She sent me some goat info a while back. I have really appreciated having it. I was wondering where she is too!

What a pleasant surprise for me. Someone on the forum wondering where I have been. So here is the story. I have been guilty of a cyber faux paux. My subscription ran out and so I have been lurking bu not posting. I just cannot give up the forum. There are so many wonderful ideas.

Last May, I took the plunge. I gave up my outside job and began to build my private music studio. As the sole remaining parent, I felt that I really needed to finish raising my boys while striving towards my goal of self-suffiency. My job was ruining my physical, emtional and spiritual health. I have made alot of sacrifices since then, not the least of which is my fiscal health. At this time I cannot renew my subscription although each month I hope that I can. On the bright side, I continue to pick up new students. And I hope that next month I will be able to send in my check to Countryside. The magazine has given me strength and courage as well as timely advice, as does this forum. As with most of us, only part of my family understands what I am trying to achieve, the other part constantly barrages me with "Get out and get a job". As though teaching privately is not a job! I'm very good at it and I know that this is what I am to do at this time. It allows me to homeschool my youngest son as well as care for my place and my animals. So I will probably continue to lurk until such time as I renew because I need that boost and encouragement.

You have given me a boost however, by noticing that I was missing. Thank You.

-- Cheryl (bramblecottage@hotmail.com), December 17, 2000.

You don't have to lurk, just because you don't subscribe! Sheesh! We missed you, so stay in touch.

-- Mary (mlogan298@yahoo.com), December 22, 2000.
