First Post: Desert River, after the flood

This is my first post here, as well as one of my first scans. I'd appreciate any comments. This shot was taken last week in Wadi Zin, near Sdeh-Boker, Israel. The area is very arid, and in the rare occasion of rain, the soil quickly becomes water-tight clay, causing floods that sweep through the otherwise dry riverbeds. This was taken a few hours after such a flood, and the area was unusually dust-free, with some traces of water still around.

Nice moody shot. I like the way the elements pull the eye from the foreground to the stormy clouds in the distance. I'm not sure whether the boulder in the foreground on the left is distracting or not....

Did you use a graduated filter to darken the sky?

Thanks for your comments, Mark. I didn't use a graduated filter - only a standard UV filter. Personally I think the boulder adds to the composition, but I guess it's a matter of taste.

Tuvik, I very much like the composition and I agree that the boulder adds significantly to the final result
