Celta Vigo interested in Marcelino

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I'll be really sorry to see him go. We know what a great player he could have been he's just had some dreadfull luck at Newcastle . I wish him all the best if he should go, but hope that BR can persuade him to stay. I am sure this opinion is shared by all except a few of the boo boys on here. We know a good player when we see one and it's just a shame that we never got to see Marcelino playing to his full potential. I am sure this message will be echoed by The Daily toon, Magpies Zone and NUFC.com. Come on lads and lasses spread the news to the world that we will be very upset to see one of our better players leaving.

BOOOOOOOOOOO!

No, actually I really rate him - hard-as-nails, commanding CB: tough act to follow.

I've called Marcelino worse than shite when he's been out but when he's been in the team he's always given 110%. Just our luck, he'll go back to Spain and end up becoming another Beast of Barcelona.

Sorry to see him go ,just hope we can get someone as good as a replacement.

I am crushed, I can't believe we let a player of his calibre, commitment, fancy footwork etc etc... slip through our fingers one more time. I am sure he will come good, this is almost as close to as low I felt when everyones hero Maric left. We will always buy the best Marcellino, Maric, Disco Des, thommasson and let them go for nowt. Although I must commend the club on showing the likes of Beardsley, Gasgoine, Waddle the door. They were always crap and a burden to the team.

I will be posting a few replies on the front page of NTLSPORTS.COM in the vain hope that BR will change his mind and offer the "local Hero" a better deal at the club.

So sad to see such a talented player wanting away. Now watch us get into Europe next season, only to be dumped out by Celta or whoever Marcelino joins. And all down to him singlehandedly stopping our attacks. We'll rue the day he's sold. Not even sure I'll renew my ST now. I only got it because of him! Anyone know how to get a CV ST?

-- Anonymous, December 14, 2000

Have Celta got a foreign supporter's club and/or a bbs ? cos if not, they'll definitely have to start something to cope with the vast influx of Geordie support that will be generated by signing a star of Marcy's calibre.

Anyone else recall his sublime sliding challenge at Wimbledon last season? He seemed to glide across 10 yds before taking out a piece of turf and look forlornly at the attacking player skip past.

Happy days...

He's been so unlucky to just be the wrong player in the wrong place. Just when we were so desperate for the type of commanding centre half he clearly is,he manages to get a hand injury, that just stops him playing for ages. Could have been our Japp Stam with a bit more good fortune.

I'm so privileged to have seen him play!

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2000

i'm gutted. have they got elastoplast's in spain then?

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2000

According to Bobby in today's paper, Marcelino's finger was quite serious..

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2000

Look slike he's lpaying tomorrow, thank God for that

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2000

Its one thing after another first we get beat 0 - 5 by a very poor Arsenal then our World beating defender wants away. The tears are streaming down my legs.

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2000

It's absolutely mind blowing how effective pubic opinion can be. Not only have Vigo NOT come for him, there's a chance he'll be playing on Saturday.

We don't know our own strength.

(ps. Pubic opinion is the opinion of dickheeds)

Robson in the Ronny:

"When Marcelino had that finger injury it was complicated. The tendon was torn and he was in a lot of pain and he had to have the injury strapped to his chest."

Guess if he had his arm stuck across his chest, it'd be difficult to play. Sympathy anyone?

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2000

>>>>>Sympathy anyone?
I must admit this finger injury puzzled me. I went so far as to ask Dr Bill if he could conceive of any injury to the finger that would prevent someone playing football and our medical supremo was stumped as well.
It must be said though that when the injury was sustained it was the club and not Marcellino who said he'd be out for 6 weeks, so I'm sure the guy wasn't looking for excuses.
It seems that this WAS a freak injury, fully in line with "jinx" theories and if the lad plays for us again he will have my support.
Just to clarify - I mean I'll cheer him on - I'm sure my surgical appliance wouldn't fit him anyway. (

It'll be great to see him fully fit and back in action tommorow. He's had so much misfortune I feel very sorry for the lad. Hopefully he'll have a blinder, then realise that this is where his future lies

Rik,

Divven gan ower far, man. Yer gannin ower the top noo!

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2000

Ian, I don't think I've posted anything in response to something you said but to say that you hope Marcellino stays is beyond me. the lad is nothing short of a coward, no heart, no passion for the club. He is average at best and absolutly cack at best. Having said that I hope he does have a blinder t'morra so someone will take him off our hands.

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2000

Oh come on sye (sic). If it hadn't been for Marcelino's commanding performance at Old Trafford in the opening game, we'd have got beaten. He's a world class player in a mid-table team. I expect he'll score a hat trick tomorrow, then get carried off with a split finger-nail. We love you Ellena, really.

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2000

!!!!!!theres so much sarcasm on here im finding it tricky to work out when anyones being even remotely serious!

My view is hes come over here and been totally knocked off track with injury and lack of confidence. Hes never even had a chance to settle into our team or get used to the PL. I cant see even the most gutless of people feigning injury after injury in an attempt to sit back and soak up the money. Fact is hes a very good defender and YBR's job is to get him back to form or get 5 million for him.

ha ha ha !

hey spud - that's the best one yet..... ;))

-- Anonymous, December 16, 2000

I understand he's doubtful for today's game as he severely sprained a sock in training yesterday.

;-{)

-- Anonymous, December 16, 2000

did you say he's sprained his cock? oo-ya. he's got my sympathy this time. ; )

-- Anonymous, December 16, 2000

I urge any of you who have any doubts in his ability to watch him closely in todays game with an open mind. He really is a mega star in the making, as has been pointed out by many on here he was a top player in Spain and was persuaded to join us rather than the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona. We had our doubts over Warren Barton, Nick Dabizas, Shay Given and GaRY SPEED, BUT THEY HAVE ALL COME GOOD.

Marcelino will show the world today that he is a world class defender. I just hope we can hang onto him, for the simple reason that there are NO AVAILABLE defenders of his class on the market at the moment.

-- Anonymous, December 16, 2000

rik - i've still got my doubts about all of those players.

-- Anonymous, December 16, 2000

doubts about their hairstyles of course....

as footballers, they're in a class of their own...

-- Anonymous, December 16, 2000

I think I'll go and have a lie down in a darkened room........NURSE....bring the drugs........them last lot are wearing off!

-- Anonymous, December 16, 2000

ITK, I see that Marcelino is your player of the week, and he hasn't even played YET.

That's how big the man is, A real legend if you ask me.BTW I moved this thread to a new "Marcelino fan club thread, so that we can sing his praises after today's historic game.

-- Anonymous, December 16, 2000

Ah that may well be the case Rik......but as all the best people say.....

The Daily Toon Management cannot be held responsible for the votes (singular or very much of a multiple nature) of outside bodies. The voting on the site does not necessarily reflect the views of the DT Team 80)
