Klinton cost Gore the Presidency with a handsake with Castro!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poole's Roost II : One Thread

When Klinton met Castro face to face and he shook Castro's hand, millions of Cubans in Florida were really pissed off.

Because of that, many of them voted for Bush!

No one single thing cost Al Gore the presidency. It was a whole combination of factors. Plus, as close as this election was, it could easily have gone the other way.

The only reason Gore is not president is because of the endless road blocks thrown in front of him by the corrupt Republican party. All the way from inadequate voting facilities for minorities to the self-serving Secretary of State, and finally all the way up to the Republican-dominated Supreme Court, the corruption was overwhelming and impossible to overcome, while the media was the whole time asking when was he going to concede. He fought a hard fight for what is right, but when even the Supreme Court is biased and corrupted, it is hopeless. America is the real loser for allowing this to happen, not Gore.

Obviously, how can you ignore the tricks of the Democrats: -fussing about the style of a Democrat-approved ballot -recounting only Democrat-won precincts -reinterpreting nonvotes -rejecting military absentee ballots?

Obviously, if Al would have asked for a manual count of the entire state, there would have been no questions. But he wasted his time with trivia.

All the way from inadequate voting facilities for minorities ...

I'm going to have to establish a database to keep up with all the sour-grape mantras that are coming from Gore supporters. I heard this one in a radio interview with an NAACP official from Atlanta yesterday; he blamed it on Katherine Harris(!).

These machines, by and large, were selected by DEMOCRAT precinct officials for DEMOCRAT precincts. Harris (and the Republicans) in general had nothing to do with it.

to the self-serving Secretary of State

As opposed to the self-serving Democratic Florida State Attorney General?

and finally all the way up to the Republican-dominated Supreme Court

The irony is getting thicker than frozen Geritol here. We have liberals complaining about judicial activism! :)

There is hope yet.[g]
