Acuna's opinion of their performance

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

''And I felt ashamed to be involved in one on Saturday. But all the blame should not be on us. ''Arsenal never gave us a chance to play and all the Newcastle United players tried their best. ''It's not as though we had two or three players below form but the whole team. And in the end we just have to put it down as one of those days. ''We are all shattered on the way home because of the result but we have enough quality in our squad to bounce back.''

All players tried their best!

Just one of those days!

We have enough quality in our squad to bounce back

I am not blaming Acuna for his thoughts but I reckon this is the general feeling within the team, eminating from the Senior players. "We are too good to get beat like that again"!!! I don't think so!

''Arsenal never gave us a chance to play'. Well that's the key, isn't it? We only look good against poor teams who fail to close us down - eg Boro.

Totally agree , the buggers should shut up and get on with the game and let Mr Robson talk to the press .

"all the Newcastle United players tried their best"

That's heartening isn't it :-)

>>>>>we have enough quality in our squad to bounce back Well I'm pleased to hear that from Acuna. For one of the much maligned "Jonny Foreigners" he seems to have more bottle than his critics and I'd rather read what HE has to say than the rest of the whingeing on here today.

So Jonno, you think we should just shut up and pretend it never happened? Then turn up on Saturday and convince worsel's we have a good team who will tonk Bradford? Sorry mate, but when I see ineptitude like I saw on Saturday (albeit against a good side) then I think I'm entitled to point out the deficiencies as I see them. I'm afraid I lost my rose-tinted glasses.

Confidence from players and fans alike is lone thing, but to be honest, Saturday's result wasn't a surprise - even with the injuries. We have a big enough squad (too big??) but it's not deep enough.

Would we prefer he said "We were crap, we are crap, we are going to get relegated unless the boss sells us all and buys".

I'm not criticising Clarence for making his comments, tho I suspect what he really said was more like:

-- Translation Results by Transparent Language --

Aal double Dutch to me mind.

It's the only way I can deal with it! And I was certainly pleased to hear positive comments from Acuna. If he'd said we were cr@p people would be on his back for that as well, saying that the foreigners have got no bottle.

We lost 5-0. I see no point in wallowing in it, and slagging off players will not help us in the next match which is more important than what happened at Arsenal.

But some of us enjoy wallowing in it? I mean, look at Pit Bill. He's never happier happy. I agree about Acuna's attitude about being ashamed. However, if that was trying their best, then we definitely need some new faces (and legs and feet).

PS. I was only joking about the Translation Results by Transparent Language bit. Only a tw@t would say that!
