Problem capturing with sometimes bright and dark VHS source.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi friends,

This happened to me, if my source VHS sometimes dark then after a few second bright again, then after a few moments dark again bright and so on, so when I capture with ATI AIW128, the result will be jerky repeated motion at the time the VHS video become dark, when the source turns to bright again, the result came back to normal again, but when the video going dark again, it's jerky and repeated motion again.

I don't know if you understand what I mean, (because I'm not quite good to explain this problem in English language), but I hope someone ever experienced this problem and then know how to fix this problem.

Thank you.

sounds like your capture card is picking up the macrovision anti copy that are on some tapes. I do not own that card but i am sure someone on here may know a way (ex: a patch) to get around this

MACROVISION COPY PROTECTION.

Make sure your source VCR is connected DIRECTLY to your computer. If you have the signal going from one VCR through another VCR, it will not work.

Or just use a Video Stabilizer...runs on a 9volt batt...at least mine does.... I think i got it a Radio Shack. Haven't had any copying problems since i got it...

Just on that problem, I am having a similar problem with loss of frame rate when capturing from a VHS source, but when the VHS tape is played straight from the VCR to the TV, it's fine.

When I capture the video signal from the VCR's aerial, it works fine, I got a high FPS, however when I push play and capture frm the VHS source, the FPS goes very low.

Any suggestions?
