The narration break of "Narrative of A. Gordon Pym"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

In the preface of "Narrative of A. Gordon Pym," Pym says that Poe wrote the first few pages, and when Pym takes over it should be very noticable to anyone familiar with his works. I dont know what to look for here. Is it a perspective change? If it is, i could not precieve any as such. I couldnt really notice any style change either, except that the writting becomes more complex. The sentences are written with more information in a sophisticated way. That may be a misconception on my part.... Thanks to anyone who helps me out here.
