Prayer for Bishop Donald George Kenneth Ming

Although reports still are sketchy, reliable sources indicate that Bishop Donald George Kenneth Ming, the Presiding Prelate of the First Episcopal District, has been taken ill and is, or was, hospitalized in an Atlanta, Georgia hospital. Information is hard to obtain and close friends of Bishop Ming, said the lack of information was intentional, that the family was being protective of the ailing Bishop curtailing visitation even by some close friends.

We pray that if he was indeed sick, Bishop Ming now is on the mend and we ask that you join in prayer for one of the great leaders of the A.M.E. Church.

To Bishop Ming and his family, the prayers and love of St. Paul Community Church are with you as you continue to heal. I offer these words to you. "Oh mighty, powerful God, who created us, loves us, and gave your only begotten son to save us, it is you that I call upon to send your son Jesus Christ to lay healing hands on your great servant Bishop Ming, precious Jesus I ask in your holy name that you guide the doctors and nurses, hold and comfort the Ming family, give them the strength and perfect peace that you are with them at all times. During this advent season as we prepare to celebrate your birth, we still believe in miracles, and ask that your miracles fall upon Bishop Ming. We do not have all the information but my lord Jesus you know all, be gracious and fill the Bishop Ming and family with the holy spirit, and your healing grace. In the name of All mighty God, in the name of Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Let the congregation say AMEN!

On my behalf, and on behalf of the RR Wright Temple family, (in South Africa)I send to Bishop DGK Ming our prayers for a speedy recovery. I am certain that the majority of the 19th District, and Bishop Adam J Richardson, join me in this prayer.

Two days ago the 19th District converged in Pretoria, among other matters of importance, his contributions to the upliftment and development of the people of South(ern) Africa were recognised. The most recent being the world-class Wilberforce Community College building (with and through SADA) glowing in Evaton (South of Johannesburg). The dedication of the building is due on April 10, 2001.

It is my prayer therefore that Bishop Ming recovers speedily to be ready for that day, and be part of witnessing those efforts he put together for the people of this country.

May God bless and strenghten his family and friends to be strong enough to care for him during this time of ailment. This is a momentary situation. It, too, shall pass.

It is no secret what God can do. .. The Psalmist says your will to live will heal you. Yet the question of Paul lingers on.. I don't know if it is better for me to remain or go to be with Jesus. I am sure the latter is the desire of all Saints. Yet God in His wisdom does not call anybody home if the mission has not been completed. God however, gives us stronger testimonies and increased faith for witness in challenging times. May we be afforded the opportunity to be part of the witness of the wonder that God is busy with.
