Being able to feel love

Random question I asked Eric this morning...

Do you think there are restrictions on who can feel "real love?" I've had about four people tell me that unless you've had relationships or at least semi-relationships before, you can't really be in love. And if you're under a certain age, you can't feel actual love no matter what.

Let me answer your question with another question? In Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", Juliet was like a 13 year old girl and Romeo was like, what 15/16... and people consider that the greatest "Love" story ever written.

I have a question on the "unless you've had relationships or at least semi-relationships before, you can't really be in love" rule. Do you have to be in a relationship or quasi-relationship for a certain amoutn of time? My relationships last anywhere from a day to about less than 2 weeks (yes I AM a loser, no need to point it out to me:) If there is a time limit, does that mean I myself can not feel "real" love having not being in a relationship? Personally I feel I can. i mean, how about all those stories about love at first sight and marrying your high school sweet heart and dying together at a ripe old age.

I believe that love is a personal and subject thing all at once. When love happens it happens. That's my opinion...

I don't think there's any restrictions on who can feel "real love". Whoever said that unless you've had some sort of relationship in the past is a retard, no offense to them. It's like saying to someone who go their arm broken for the first time that it's not really broken because they've never had a broken bone before, so they can't possibly know what it's like.

noelle - great analogy with the broken bone thing. i never thought if it like that, but you're exactly right.

I think anyone can feel love. I've had people tell me you can't love someone if they don't love you; which is bull cause the only women I've ever been in love with didn't feel the same about me.

And then I've had people say you couldn't be in love with someone unless you've made love to said person. I also think this is bull.

Love is the most choas filled wacked out adventure into stupidity and other things wondersful. Everyone should feel this. And they can at different ages, be it 15 or 99 and as their first realtionship or last.

Everyone can feel love. But only you really know what love is. I guess your feelings on love can change and grow and stuff, but love is love and you usually know it.
