Wow -- there's hope for me yet...:)

Heaven open to all, according to Pope

This is an amazing turn of events! I remember when I was younger how one of the boys in my 8rd grade class wouldn't dance with any non- Catholic girls because he said that they weren't going to Heaven. I wonder where he is now?

Raven, that reminds me of 21 years ago in a small Southern town when I was condescendingly assured that Jesus even loves Catholics.

I should add here that a year or two later -- after moving back to the big city -- I became aware with my heart that Jesus does love me.

Wonderful news, in my opinion. (Where I'm coming from: Episcopalian).

An awful lot of southerners (and other conservative Christians) seem to think of Catholicism as a cult. That always struck me as strange, seeing how Protestantism flowed out of Catholicism.

Of course, I'm an atheist, so my perspective is different.

Peter, I have a very dear friend whose Dad is an Episcopalian minister. I loved his description of his religion:

"Catholic Lite. All of the religion, with half the guilt."

Momma take this gun from me

Patricia -- I loved that little slogan! Got me picturin' the TV commercial...:)

capn, ya got me thinkin' about Clapton...and one of my favorites of his -- written about his little boy who died in a fall.

To me, he gave the blues genre a whole new meaning with this one, because it's not within the classic "12-bar" blues patterns -- yet it's still a blues -- kinda like what his "Layla" did.

My eyes still end up wet and reddened when I hear this...

Tears in heaven

By Eric Clapton

Would you know my name

If I saw you in heaven

Will it be the same

If I saw you in heaven

I must be strong, and carry on

Cause I know I don't belong

Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand

If I saw you in heaven

Would you help me stand

If I saw you in heaven

I'll find my way, through night and day

Cause I know I just can't stay

Here in heaven

Time can bring you down

Time can bend your knee

Time can break your heart

Have you begging please

Begging please

(instrumental)

Beyond the door

There's peace I'm sure.

And I know there'll be no more...

Tears in heaven

Would you know my name

If I saw you in heaven

Will it be the same

If I saw you in heaven

I must be strong, and carry on

Cause I know I don't belong

Here in heaven

Cause I know I don't belong

Here in heaven

Patricia -- Episcopalian hell is a restaurant with no wine list. :)

Mother Theresa loved and took care of everyone, and I think she said God didn't make differences between people.
