Divx Encoded .avi files into VCD to play in DVD/VCD player

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hello- I have recently download divx .avi files and would now like to burn them to cd and play them in my JVC 701BK dvd/vcd player. I've already tried nero but them give me invalid format, so then I went to try to encode the .avi file into mpeg with encoders such as thmb, xing, and lsx. Thmb seems to work, but when i'm done encoding it and burn it to cd, my dvd player recognizes it, but nothing shows up and now sound is heard. So i'm wondering if someone has been able to transfer these divx files and play them in a home vcd/dvd player. Also on xing encoder, it seems to encode, but only 10 seconds or so of it and the ending result is about a 5K mpg file when it should be about 650mb. does anyone have any help with this one. Please let me know if you were successful or tried somethings that have worked, thanks a lot. sdcali@home.com

TEMPEnc should do it. It works for me at least. Friendly greetings, Eppo R. Kooi.

Sorry, it's TMPGEnc of course.

First of all you have to install all the codecs on your PC.Youcan find them on codecZone. Next while convering these avi files you have to choose 1:1 ratio in TMPgenc I have made lots of video cds from Divx files and all works fine in my DVD player. Hope this helps

I didn't know you had to be gay to masterbate!!! But anyway, I use TMPGenc too, but when I've encoded .avi's the sound always comes out screwed up. So I use a program called AVI2MPG to decompress the audio and it will add another file to your computer, for example if I was going to re-encode Spiderman.avi the resulting filename would be Spiderman_pcm.avi, once you do that, then use TMPGenc to re- encode the _pcm.avi file over to .mpg. This whole process takes a hell of a long time, but it's worth it.
