FOX NEWS PULLS AWAY FROM CNN IN THE CABLE NEWS BATTLE: The Florida recounts may not have changed the outcome of the presidential election, but they're changing the outcome of the cable news race.

Fox News Channel is now frequently beating rival CNN in prime-time household ratings and even moved ahead last night in total households despite being available in about 23 million fewer homes than is CNN.

Monday was a banner night for Fox News, which collected its highest household rating ever for a regularly scheduled program when The O'Reilly Factor climbed to a 3.1 rating in homes that receive the channel.

For the night, Fox pounded CNN in ratings averages within each networks' universe of homes, 2.1 to 1.3. Fox News also averaged more total homes, with 1.20 million compared with CNN's 1.06 million. And that's with Fox available to only about 56 million and CNN in about 79 million homes. It's the first time since early November that Fox News has topped CNN in total homes for an evening.

Fox also beat CNN in ratings averages for the Nov. 27-Dec. 3 week, earning a prime-time 1.7 rating, 3 share for the week in households that receive Fox. That's the service's best rating this year, good enough to beat the CNN universe 1.5/2. This caps a gradual turnaround for Fox News since election week, when Fox News trailed CNN by a 0.8-rating-point margin (1.5 vs. 2.3). News Corp.'s news channel then whittled that difference down to 0.3 for each of the past two weeks before vaulting past CNN in Nov. 27-Dec. 3 results.

CNN still held the edge last week in total households -- 1.20 million vs. 980,000 in prime-time last week -- an advantage that reflects CNN's wider distribution.

Counting only homes that get both CNN and Fox News, O'Reilly Factor outscored CNN's Larry King Live in averages covering both the months of October and November. The November totals in the shared CNN-Fox News universe were 1.005 million homes for O'Reilly Factor and 876,000 for Larry King. In the total U.S., the CNN show again has the higher household rating because it's offered in more homes.

And this is important because............????

Meaning no disrespect, I thought higher of your intelligence. It's painfully obvious that the (coining a political phrase here) American People are pretty fed up with the liberal bias in the media. Case in point is the shake-up at CNN, often referred to as the Clinton News Network or Communist News Network, because mainstream American viewers are tired of the liberal opinions and bias being forced down our throats.

All anybody or I should ask for in news presentations is fair, equal, and balanced reporting of news. Not spin, not sound bites, and not opinions that reflect the agenda of the editor. Most people are capable of drawing their own conclusions from information.

I've heard that "public is tired" argument since the days of Barry Goldwater in 1964. It ignores the fact that the Press Ownership is not Liberal Left and the fact that the Wall St. Journal is one of the most powerful voices in the Media today. If you think the WSJ is Liberal than you have proven again that you are totally dense.

ITS CRAP. It assumes the American public is stupid collectively and being manipulated.

Meanwhile, the press is not taking albore's side on the recount, he is sinking in the Polls (see MSNBC's online poll where over 80% of the voters ((in the 100s of 1000s)) are calling for the albore concession).

If anything, people like me from the Right are SICK AND TIRED of the Bullshit from people like FARAH and the Fringe Clones pretending they "know the facts". They are dealing in PROPAGANDA far worse than ALL the PRESS put together.

It assumes the American public is stupid collectively and being manipulated.

This is a true statement...just ask Joe Sixpack.

Joe Sixpack? That would be YOU?? Who cares. The Left bitches like Anita that the media is slanted right. The Fringers on the Left claim that some fat Korean controls the GOP. Its BULL SHIT.

The first thing you learn in College English 1A is "critical reading". Try it after you pass your CED.

The Left bitches like Anita that the media is slanted right.

Um...did this mean that *I'M* a bitch, or that I'm bitching that the media is slanted right? I believe that the media is slanted right, but I don't think I bitch about it. If you're simply stating that I'm a bitch, however, you have a right to your opinion.

Anita,

If you're a bitch, you're a very nice one.

:)

( ... or should I say, " :* ?")

phrasing correction "the Left bitches as Anita does........".

The first thing you learn in College English 1A is "critical reading". Okay...then you said The Left bitches like Anita that the media is slanted right. Perhaps you were asleep during the "critical writing" portion of College English 1A.

Yep, I was waiting for a clarification on THAT one.

:-)

Sometimes, you just can't make this stuff up.

It is one of the mysteries of life that some people plaster their cars with stickers advertising their undying allegience to some head-banger radio station. But they do.

Uncle Bob obviously has marked out part of his identity that is now occupied by Fox News and its on-air personalities. If Uncle Bob and Mr. O'Reilly were dogs, Uncle Bob would be trotting just behind, pissing on every tree that Mr. O'Reilly pissed on, happily wagging his tail.
