Ephesians 4:29 NASB:

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear.

That is, 'corrupt', 'unwholesome' or 'foul and polluting'.

I would say this means not being foul mouthed, for the sake of being that way. Don't make it a habit to curse. Now I would think that there are rare times when a good curse word, a sentence "seasoned with salt," might be appropriate to get the attention of someone with a closed ear. (You ever notice how much impact it has when someone who never ever cusses uses a curse word? Its like E.F. Hutton: Everyone listens!) Such as Paul's saying that he counts all things "dung" for the cause of Christ. He used the Greek vernacular analogous to our word "sh*t." But it should be extremely rare, few and far between, never ever the habit or the rule. IMHO.
