Norweigan international for 2.5 million

Halsttad who Spurs, Hackems and West Ham are interested in is being touted for a move to the Premiership.

Norweigan international who plays the 1 in their 4-5-1 formation, keeping Solkjaer and Flo in midfield. Decent price, so why don't we go for him?

From Teamtwaddle

Norwegian side Brann have rejected an offer for striker Thorstein Helstad, a player who Sunderland have been linked to. Whether it was Sunderland who made the offer, thought to be in the region of £1.5 million, is not known. The Blackcats are not the only club thought to be eyeing Helstad, with West Ham and Leeds also believed to be interested in the player. What is for sure though is that the bid that was made was not enough to tempt Brann. The Norwegian club's director said: "The bidder knew that the offer was not high enough. It was probably meant as a first bid to test the water."

never seen him play meself but 2 mill just to p off mackems would be good. Plus reid doesnt seem too bad a judge so far. Its just noone likes him.

I'd go for it. If the club can gamble on signing luax2 for over 2 million, surely they could find some money for this lad.

On another note, West Ham seem to have secured a deal to take Finland's Tihinen on a 3 month loan deal, an agreement which would have suited us down to the ground.

I would certainly go for Helstad. I'm a norwegian and i've seen Helstad in action for a long time. Considering the price he is an absolut must, and he only 23 years old. He impressed very much during last years league in Norway, scored 17 goals+a couple of goals for the national team. Seems to be most keen on Leeds though, as it is his favourite PL team.

The norwegian league is by any means not as good as Pl, but by scoring in difficult national matches i think he is quality. He's big and not at least very quick.

Sounds a decent buy then at that price, can't see why his name hasn't cropped up here before.

How I yearn for two good strikers up front for the club, who play every week and at least one scores every week. Well it is Christmas!

Not sure if we need another resonably good striker. We have five or six on the books, OK so the best three are injured but they will be back within a month, then what do we do with our spare squad striker?

We either need a better striker than Shearer and Cort or we need to be patient.

Nah, we need some cover now. The Christmas schedule has us away to Derby (23), home to Leeds (26) and NHeath (30) and then away to Spurs (2 Jan).

That's 4 games in 11 days, and the traveling the length of the country 2ce over. We simply cannot rely on youngsters (Ameobi) and out-of-formers (nee misfit? Cordone).

The pessimist in me says we'll be languishing at 10th spot in the New Year.

Only 10th Bobby? I'd buy that off you NOW......you'll regret those hasty words......
