I'm in. Shall we meet somewhere obvious...like Notre Dame, Paris? ;-)

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

haha I still can't get over that!!

Go away for a quiet weekend with the missus and bump into you 3 times in just over 2 days :))

So come on bobster....where shall we meet?

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

Im in , and i cant remeber the bliddy name but theres a boozer dead near the ground where the coaches drop off that is all mags and would be the best bet/safest bet .. name anyone ? And have i missed something , Gav and Bobby do Paris , highly entertaining im sure ; - )) Spilleth the beans who tried to run away from who ?

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

That Drayton Arms is a fair bet, and you can usually get a couple in amongst the Mags before hand. Know it?

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

He's stalking you Gav!

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

dont know it , do u know the one im on about .. BTW ive been stalking Gav a while now .. where u sat on sat Bobster ?

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

I found out last thursday evening that bobby and his good lady wife were going to Paris for the weekend, the same weekend I was taking my girlfriend away for a nice quiet weekend! Bobster and I arranged NOT to meet up whilst over there and then proceeded to bump into each other at Waterloo and then TWICE in Paris on the sunday!

I also had Nicolas Anelka stalking me and bumped into Robbie Williams in the lift in our hotel.....

I've no idea of either of the boozers that you're on about so one or both of you is gonna have to meet me somewhere in town and drag me up there.....we're gonna have to meet Yelli at Waterloo as well so that might be a good (EARLY!) starting point....what do ya reckon?

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

Bobby - I'm supposed to be picking up Screacher at Heathrow at about 10:30 Saturday morning and then as I've got to go somewhere straight after the game drive up and park near Highbury - do you want/need a lift?

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

Scratchy divvent worry about Bobby me and Gav'll look after him at Waterloo from 11.00 onwards . That sounds like a canny plan to me : - ))

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

That ok with ya bobster? waterloo at 11?

Yelli you've gotta make it there for 11....don't get all womanly and be late!! ;)

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

Being 'looked after' by you pair is a bit of a contradiction in terms!

I think the pub we mean is actually called the Drayton Park Hotel, near Drayton Park mainline and up the road from Arsenal tube. If it is, then this link might help find it.

I'm in Greenwich this Friday and staying over, so Waterloo shouldn't be too much of a problem (hangover allowing). In that Southampton meeting pub as before? Time?

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

I`ll make sure Yelli`s up in time for the train - if you promise not to lose her in London! I know you`ll all look after her, but the urge to pin a Paddington Bear type luggage label on her is very strong! I really sorry not to be coming up myself - I should be going to Birmingham on Saturday, but I must admit I am finding it really hard to drum up the enthusiasm. (:o)

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

Coopers Arms, Waterloo Station no LATER than 11.15 am....don't worry Gal....we'll definitely look after her, you have my word....

Cool.....then once we've met up there we can head off up to highbury for our thrashing....oh Sting/Bobby....Shirty's about for that game shall we find him and take the piss out of him? ;))

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

Shirty? Deffo get him along :-)) LOL

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

Sting, you say that you don't know the pub that Bobby mentioned, The Drayton Arms, but you are suggesting the pub near to the away end where all the mags normally go and is where all the coaches drop off.

The 2 suggestions are the one and same pub!

I'm on a bus from the Toon leaving at 6am and we hope to make it to the Drayton Arms for 11am. There is 3 coaches in our convoy alone so there will be at least 150 Mags in there very early indeed.

Someone mentioned on an earlier thread about this pub having a Mag helping out with the serving behind the bar, that'll be my marra 'Spow' who does it every season. Thought I would let you knaa his name in case of difficulty getting served.

See you all there!

Think it's fair to say that Jonno, Screach, Susie et moi will be in there.

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

Well, as I seem to be providing tickets for Scratchy and Craig (and De Builder if he evr gets in touch with me), you can assume that there'll be a canny few.

I arrive at Heathrow at 10:30 so it's a mere matter of how fast the Scratchmobile can get us to town and where we leave the motor. SOuth Bank seems a fair bet as it's (a) free and (b) secure (wor orrifice). All I then have to do is find the geezer with the tickets.

Seriously - any idea how full the Drayton Arms will be by (say) 12:00?

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

It'll be getting busy.. Screach, there's a bit of a Hotel Dougal issue (ie, I'm sleeping on me mate Dvae's floor at the moment).

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

S'orrite - alternate plan in pipeline.

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2000

Wahey! so there's gonna be a shitload of us.....we'll probably make it up there for about 12 assuming Yelli's train gets in on time....

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2000

Errr just thinking that if the Drayton is gonna be packed full of all the mags Mungo knows, plus the London mags and others then it's gonna be effing packed! any suggestions for an alternative venue if it's impossible to get into the Drayton?

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2000

It wasn't *that* bad last time I was there. Busy getting to the bar, but drinking immediately outside was never considered a problem.

And Mungo - I saw Stow (is it Spow or Stow?) serving before. Lots of white hair on his head and mush?

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2000

Thats 'Spow' Bobby! A sort of 'grey' version of 'Bobby Ball'.

And you're right about it not being a problem to get in. Theres never a problem cos theres nobody on the doors and when it gets packed everyone stands outside getting warm off the burger caravans. :-)

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2000

I also heard about a poissible "Mags Meet" at the Finsbury Park Tavern. At least that's where I think my ticket is drinking!

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2000

and for any more discerning, prawn sanga types there's always heaps of luvverly wine bars down Upper Street towards the Angel. Allegedly. ;OD

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2000

This all reminds me of this great house I lived in on St Paul's Rd which is at the apex of Upper Street and Essex Road, just along from Highbury Corner. My house was on the junction leading up to Highbury and the garden was always a bombsite after home matches. Chip wrappers, fag boxes, burger papers - you name it. On occasion, a Monday night, I think, I saw this bloke throwing a can in the garden so I bellowed out the window "If you do that again, I'll follow you home and do a crap in your garden". To which I got that male chorus of anout 100 voices "Oooooooooooooooooooooooooh". Do blokes know how annoying this is? I went out with this bloke at the time and he got tickets for Arsenal v Mags in Dec (I think) 1996 and the bassa wouldn't give me one as he wanted to use them for clients...

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2000

Ps. the bloke I was going out with wasn't the same as the garden bottle thrower. Thought I'd clarify. SCREACH!!!!!! So, are you beering the Finsbury Park Tavern, then?

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2000

Dunno yet. How's the leg? Will you be coming to the match???

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2000

I will be there. courtesy of Yorkshire Mags. Who reckon they have about seven spares. I know LR couldn't sell your tickets. Unfortunately you will have to go to the Duke of York in Kings Cross, and even worse with me if you need a spare. It doesn't look like there will be any need but if you need one reply on here and I will sort you out.

I will try to get down the Drayton Park Hotel later for a drink

-- Anonymous, December 08, 2000

Duke of York eh.....hasn't that been refurbed as some dodgy australian wine bar or something? so you're out with the hardcore tomorrow then Bake?

-- Anonymous, December 08, 2000

Naaahhh Gav I just have to pick up me ticket there. Not too sure where it is though despite having lived there and worked there. Mind it was six years ago. Is it down Kings Cross road or that dodgy road down the side of the station on the left

-- Anonymous, December 08, 2000

The side road by the station....i'm certain it's changed name but there's another one across the road where loads of mags hang out as well....

That's usually where all the idiots meet up before the london games....some right nut cases....

-- Anonymous, December 08, 2000

Hahahahah Mungo i remeber Spow gannin behind the bar there 2 years back , bar staff couldnt handle all the mags .. he didnt have a clue what beer he wa pouring for who , and how much owt cost .. it was hilarious to watch .. especially cos the barstaff couldnt give a monkeys . he had lads asking for spoof rounds , difficult mixers and all sorts .,.got me pissing meself remebering it now ... I also remembrer leaving the match the same day , i laft early when we were 3 down , two ther lads in front of us were doing the same thing ... anyway to get out early you have to to the back of the home stand and are let inb to their area so to get out ... the two lads in front of us looked st the steward when he opened the agte which basically led us back into the stadium , and both of them on cue said ... ' hey we're not gannin' back in mind ' ... totally lost on the steward , which made it that bit funnier .. shame about Viera's goals that day , hoping for better the morra : - ))

-- Anonymous, December 08, 2000

Yez are all jammy, lucky, gets and I wish I was there with yez, boo hoo. Sing yer hearts oot lads and lasses, you've never let the lads down before and even though most of 'em are ungratful bastards thank our lucky stars we have young'uns like Caldwell, Hughes and griff who will not duck in their responsibilites of defending our goal.
