MANCHESTER CITY boss Joe Royle has dismissed speculation linking The Citizens with a move for Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen. The west London club admitted to receiving a bid close to £6 million for the Icelandic international, but City, on the look out for extra firepower, are not the club according to Royle. "I know City have been linked," Royle said. "But it is not our bid. I don't know how or why we have been mentioned, maybe it is something to do with the fact we were there on Sunday, but it is not our bid. "We are carrying on our business in our usual structured, sensible way and we are looking at one or two players." Ipswich striker David Johnson has also been linked with a move to Maine Road. The former Manchester United junior has been in and out of the Ipswich first team this season despite ending the last campaign as the East Anglian's top goalscorer. Johnsen's Ipswich colleague, Jamie Scowcroft has also been linked with a move to City as Royle seeks to replace the departed George Weah, while George Burley may be looking to offload a striker should Alun Armstrong's proposed move from Middlesbrough go through.

Can't see Chewsee off-loading Gudjohnsen now that they've sold TAF and Gudjohnsen has just established himself in the team.
We had the chance to sign him in the summer and didn't press forward - I'm sure it's too late now.

The most obvious choice, if the brass were available, would be M'Penza - is he still with Schalke?

Have NUFC got £7 million for M'penza? I heard he had a bad car crash recently, He wasn't injured but was a bit shaken up.

Wasnt Gudjohnson at a club YBR used to manage. Think he was brought over from Iceland(??)at a young age but had a bad injury. MAybe YBR knows something that put him off during the summer as hed have been a great buy ;-(

I think he was with Bobby at PSV when Eidur was just a kid, spud.
Broke his leg quite badly, I believe.
