Ronaldo

I haven't seen it mentioned on here but apprarently his agent is pushing him to Premiership clubs, with the blessing of Inter, to get some fitness back.

How crazy would that be, obviously Bobby has connections there and we could do with a forward.

What strikes me is why would playing in the Premiership be easier than Serie A to get his fitness back? He's more likely to get injured over here than in most other countries!

Getting Ronaldo here on loan is probably unrealistic (but maybe not impossible). However, we really someone to come in, provide some real inspiration, and give the place a lift right now.

I've seen this happen on numerous occasions in the past, for instance with players like the very great Tony Green, Wyn Davies, Malcolm McDonald, Paul Goddard, Alan Shoulder, Gazza, KK, and Pedro.

The question is who is there of that quality who could come in now and provide that kind of inspiration? I think Marion Pahars is capable of that kind of impact, but beyond him I'm struggling. Any other ideas?

Thinking along the same lines as you Clarky. We need a well known player who will we anticipate will make us a far better team. Players like a chinese defender for £2 million are not going to lift us and if anything are going to make us a bit downhearted.

I have to say the signing of Clarence Acuna gave me more of a lift than Bassedas, because I had heard of Acuna and the number of times he has played for Chile suggested that he was a bargain for £1 million.

I don't think we can afford/Shepherd won't release the funs to sign someone permanently that will make the difference.

I'm not sure Pahars is out of favour and I'm fairly sure he stated he didn't want to leave the Saints. Worth a punt though as Saints aren't exactly rolling in money.

I'd never thought about him before, but I could certainly go for the Pahars line.....whatever we do it has to be done quickly.

With the Arse, Yorkies, NH and the Yids all heading out way in the next few weeks and no real recognised goalscorer in the first team squad.....doesn't make for a healthy looking Chrismas box does it?

Unless we do something we will be getting to the stage when we will be rushing Shearer back. He will of course play but not when he is 100% and he'll be back to square one.

With the crisis in defence and in attack, the board have to help Bobby on this one. It's so bloody obvious that we need cover in these areas and we haven't got it.

I still have recurring nightmares about John Hartson: until he's safely playing in Scotland I'm going to have bags under my eyes. Cut price "proven" sriker who's good in the air to provide service for Shearer.....ack.....shudder....cringe.

Hartson would be a gamble. His off the field antics would probably be more frustrating to Bobby than Kieron Dyer's.................BUT.........is a good player and can put the ball in the net from anywhere while still offering the aerial threat.

Mmmmmmmm. Not sure.

"Unless we do something we will be getting to the stage when we will be rushing Shearer back..."

Acording to the Ronnie, AS has not ruled himself out of the Arsenal game on Saturday yet, and indeed hopes to play!!!!

Can't help thinking that Ronaldo's injury record plus a spell at the Toon with our injury record would spell the end of the boy's career.

Oh come off it Clarky. I know you're just trying to fool me for the TeamPick comp. Saturday - hmmmm.......

We've got to do something Screacher, well done Clarky.

Oi! Schreacher, have you heard that we have a fully fit squad for the Arsenal match including Cort who starts training on Friday.

Oh yes and we've just signed Rivaldo and Ronaldo on six-month loan deals, bought the new teenage Brazilian sensation Roberto Robsihno. We've sold Goma, Dyer and Speed as well.

Hey Screach - desperate men resort to desperate measures. Why, I almost had you convinced Carl Cort was playing on Saturday!!

;-{)

Clarky - I was nearly sh!tting myself when I saw the team (well it's this bliddy American comical chemical "beer". Hardly any were on my pick and I was convinced they were all on yours - til I checked.

Hmmm - no Speed, Dyer or Goma (well, they weren't gooner be in my team for Saturday) but Ronaldo, Rivaldo? I only had Ronaldo pencilled in. Still, I guess Shay can make way for Rivaldo.
