Government/Critical Mass

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Why dosn't the people's vote or opinion count anymore? Tim Eyman's initiatives have overwelmingly been supported by the people of Washington State, yet this huge government machine thinks it can file suit to block the peoples intent. Dosen't our constitution come in here somewhere to protect the people. I'm sure many people are asking why vote? It seems our government has become so big it has corrupted itself into thinking it rules.

Tony, you are correct. When was the last time the voters filed a massive lawsuit to stop a massive tax hike thrust upon them by Olympia? But, when we the people, say enough is enough, they go to court to say our vote does not count. Wouldn't it be nice to ignore the tax hikes we didn't like? That is exactly what Olympia is doing. All they want is our money. I don't mind paying taxes as long as there is accountability and I feel they are spending the money wisely. If the majority of people voted for a tax hike, then so be it. If we voted for a tax reduction, then Olympia better play by the rules and give it to us. Fair is Fair. I am still waiting for my refund check on back taxes paid from i-722.

Tony -

It does. When was the last that Tim filed an initiative that could pass constitutional scrutiny?
