I want to buy a harness for my 12 pound Maine Coon. What is the best type to buy for her? Several local pet stores keep trying to tell me that small dog harnesses will work but I don't trust this advice. I would think a specifically designed cat harness is what I want. Any suggestions? Thanks. (Hope to find her one by Christmas.)

Go with the small dog harness. The cat ones are too stretchy for a big, powerful Maine Coon. Ours loves his and comes running whenever we take it out of the drawer where it is kept.

The only cat's harness that fits my cat is the one from Petco, (PetSmart has too small).

It is ugly usually printed in flowers or other designs and comes in sizes. The larges fits all right. Cat is 14 pounds. It is not too pretty but works safe and fits.
