Dar Es Salaam (TOMRIC Agency, November 29, 2000) -
Following the ongoing power crisis, which hit
industries in the country, the government has
said it was looking the possibility to link
Tanzania's power networks with those of her
counterparts from the Southern African Development
Community (SADC).

. . .

"We will start installing power billing machines
in government offices next month to curb non-payment
of power bills," he said, disclosing that the company
had already been secured money from KfW, a Germany
organization, for the project.

. . .

According to Luhanga at present TANESCO spends
some Tshs8 billion to run thermal power generators
in the country to ensure that all plants were
adequately supplied with diesel. However, only
two out of four thermal generators at Ubungo
have been operating for the past few months
as others have been grounded because of technical
problems.
