OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- A small passenger plane arriving at Eppley Airfield had to shut off one of its two engines before landing.

Low oil pressure in the right engine forced the pilot of the 19-seat Beech 1900 to shut it off Tuesday.

The U.S. Air Express flight to Omaha from Kansas City, Mo., landed safely, said Omaha Airport Authority spokesman Phil Jensen.

The plane's 12 passengers were told the engine was shut off about 15 miles from Omaha, and they were to review safety procedures for landing, Jensen said.

He did not know exactly when the engine was shut off.

Jensen said the planes are designed to fly with one engine.

Emergency crews were put on alert before the plane's safe landing.
